Are you a MEP Engineering Manager with experience of working on major rail infrastructure projects?
Have you overseen electrical design interfaces across rail infrastructure and station environments?
Location: Chipping Warden / Greatworth (Banbury midpoint)
Hybrid working: 3 days on site / office, 2 days WFH
Rate: £(Apply online only) day inside IR35
Contract length: Until mid-2028 (circa 2.5 years)
The Role
We are seeking an experienced MEP Engineering Manager to act as the key design interface between the MEP subcontractor, main designer, and HS2. This role is critical in ensuring that MEP and electrical designs are coordinated, integrated, and delivered in line with HS2 requirements.
The position is predominantly electrically biased, supporting single-storey station-type buildings comprising approximately 10 rooms, with limited mechanical scope.
Key Responsibilities
·Act as the primary interface between HS2, the main designer, and the MEP subcontractor
·Manage and coordinate the MEP design and integration process, ensuring smooth design flow
·Oversee electrical design interfaces across rail infrastructure and station environments
·Ensure compliance with HS2 standards, technical assurance processes, and design governance
·Support design development through all stages, from concept to construction
·Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design clashes and interface risks
·Attend site and design meetings across Chipping Warden and Greatworth as required
Experience & Background Required
·Strong design background, ideally from a main contractor or MEP subcontractor
·Proven experience in MEP / electrical design interface management
·Rail infrastructure experience is essential
·Station interface experience is highly desirable
·Previous or current involvement on HS2, particularly in a design interface role, would be ideal
Desirable Skills & Knowledge
·Experience with SCADA, station systems, and station-wide electrical infrastructure
·Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS)
·Experience with PLC and SCADA logic
·Familiarity with electrically led building systems rather than heavy mechanical services
Summary
This is a long-term opportunity on a major HS2 programme, ideal for an MEP Engineering Manager with strong electrical and design interface expertise, particularly within station or rail environments. The role offers flexibility between permanent or contract engagement and provides continuity through to mid-2028
