Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Northamptonshire

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum

Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 5pm / Friday 9:30am - 5pm

Our client is a leading engineering and manufacturing business known for delivering high-quality, bespoke solutions to a diverse customer base. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Projects team.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Projects, the Design Engineer will play a key role in producing high-quality 2D and 3D designs using SolidWorks/ AutoCAD. You will be responsible for delivering accurate manufacturing drawings, managing Bills of Materials, and supporting cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless delivery of engineered products.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, hands-on design professional with a strong background in steel fabrication and mechanical design.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce detailed 2D /3D manufacturing drawings of systems, products, and layouts
Create fabrication drawings for steel structures and assembly drawings complete with BOMs.
Ensure all drawings meet high standards of quality, accuracy, continuity, and relevant directives.
Manage and maintain all BOMs within the company's ERP system.
Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Sales to ensure designs meet business and customer requirements.
Generate and issue BOMs and associated drawings as required.
Ensure all documentation is correctly filed and company interests are protected.About You:

Proven experience as a Design Engineer or Draughtsman within a similar industry.
Strong background in steelwork fabrication.
HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD is essential
