Are you a proven Mechanical Engineer looking for a senior role where you can lead technical delivery, shape engineering processes, and take ownership of a growing technical team? This is an exciting opportunity to step into a Principal-level position with a leading player in the subsea and offshore services sector.

The Opportunity

As Principal Mechanical Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of delivering innovative engineering solutions across subsea trenching assets, vessel equipment, and offshore systems. You'll take ownership of the technical department, oversee engineering standards, and play a hands-on role in projects from concept to commissioning.

This role offers the chance to influence best practice, drive innovation, and work on challenging offshore projects that demand high levels of technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and components for offshore/subsea projects.
- Oversee conceptual and detailed design, calculations, simulations, and validation testing.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, datasheets, drawings, and reports.
- Provide technical governance, ensuring compliance with industry standards (API, ASME, ISO, DNV).
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers, reviewing and approving their work.
- Support installation, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting.
- Drive continuous improvement, process innovation, and R&D initiatives.
- Plan departmental resources, budgets, and project schedules.

We're looking for someone who brings:
- A strong background in mechanical engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent).
- Significant experience in offshore, subsea, or marine equipment design.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems and mechanical analysis (stress, fatigue, vibration, thermal).
- Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of relevant engineering codes and standards (API, ASME, ISO, DNV).
- Experience leading projects, managing resources, and mentoring engineers.
- A track record of delivering innovative solutions and improvements.
