Software Developer - NextGeneration Satellite Systems

SC Clearance Required

Standard 37 hours per week (working 4.5 days between the hours of 7am - 7pm, hours agreed at business discretion) Hybrid (3 days onsite) is acceptable

Role Overview

The Software Developer will join a 7member Scrum team within a wider programme delivering a nextgeneration satellite management system. The role spans the full software development lifecycle, requiring strong experience in UMLbased design, Java development, microservices, and automated testing. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in an agile environment and enjoys solving complex engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Develop highquality, maintainable code within an agile Scrum environment
Collaborate with the team to design, implement, and test new product features
Contribute to architectural discussions and UMLdriven design activities
Provide accurate task estimates and support effective sprint planning
Apply best practices in microservices, automation, and CI/CD
Engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders
Maintain a strong awareness of compliance risks and act with integrity at all times

Required Skills & Experience

Proficiency in Java (version 8+)
Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Hibernate
Experience developing RESTful services over HTTPS
Handson experience with microservice architectures and distributed systems
Solid understanding of software design patterns
Familiarity with Agile development processes
Experience with CI/CD pipelines
Proficiency with Git for source control
Experience using issuetracking tools such as Jira
UML/SysML modelling experience (Enterprise Architect or similar)
Strong selfmotivation and ability to work effectively within a team
Ability to promote innovation and continuous improvement
Confident communication with stakeholders at all levels
