Working Hours: Rotating shifts Monday to Friday 06:00 to 14:00 / 14:00 to 22:00 or fixed nights Monday to Thursday 22:00 to 07:00

Empowered Personnel is currently recruiting for a Shift Supervisor on behalf of a client based in Coventry. This is a permanent Shift Supervisor position, offering a key leadership role within a busy production and manufacturing environment.

You will be responsible for maintaining the efficient and effective processing of customer products to the highest quality standards and in accordance with the daily production schedule. As a Shift Supervisor, you will ensure all work is inspected and validated against customer specifications, with all required paperwork completed accurately. You will take responsibility for ensuring that plant, equipment and chemistry are fit for purpose, maintained correctly and operated safely at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the highest quality standards, ensuring all products meet customer specifications
• Lead, supervise and set clear expectations for shift staff
• Select and prioritise customer products to meet production schedules
• Follow and update the production board, ensuring changes are recorded accurately
• Ensure productivity targets are met through uninterrupted operation of plating lines
• Accurately count products on and off plants, recording all data on route cards
• Carry out routine maintenance in line with general working instructions
• Report any defective, damaged or worn plant and equipment immediately
• Monitor and control the site effluent system, reporting concerns immediately
• Complete effective shift handovers with incoming Shift Supervisors
• Ensure all paperwork, system entries and documentation are completed on time
• Oversee correct jig loading, unloading and packaging to customer requirements
• Use the plant computer system to correctly log all production loads
• Ensure 100% inspection and testing is carried out, including visual and any other specified checks
• Promote and enforce Health & Safety standards across the shift
• Support production by carrying out General Operator duties when required
• Undertake customer-specific production tasks as requested

Additional Duties and Expectations

• Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of the spraying process, including associated processes such
as phosphating and shot blasting
• Support and deliver training and upskilling for the existing team
• Effectively organise and supervise multiple shifts, ensuring volume and quality targets are met
• Identify and implement process improvements to equipment set-up, workflow and team performance
• Maintain a high level of safety awareness, understanding the working environment, risks and procedures
• Display a strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn, leading by example at all times

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as a Shift Supervisor, Team Leader or Senior Operator
• Background in manufacturing, production, engineering or surface treatment environments
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• High attention to detail with a focus on quality, safety and efficiency
• Confident managing people, processes and shift priorities
