Land & Technical Manager
Derbyshire
£70,000–£80,000 + car + bonus

Step into a strategic position where you’ll shape the future of the land portfolio while driving technical excellence across all stages of development.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership to identify and progress new land opportunities, ensuring the company’s growth targets are met. Your technical input will be crucial in shaping layouts, designs and planning strategies that deliver high-quality homes.

With direct access to the Managing Director and Technical and Construction Director, you’ll influence key decisions and expand your expertise across land acquisition, planning, and construction.

What you’ll do

Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, agents, farmers, politicians and others to identify and progress future land opportunities.
Progress new land opportunities alongside the Managing Director and Technical and Construction Director, completing appraisals and adding to the Group’s land portfolio.
Support external land managers to maximise the value and potential of the land and property portfolio.
Brief and commission external consultants for site investigations, environmental surveys, and other assessments needed to progress development.
Liaise with statutory bodies and utility undertakers on environmental, drainage, highways and other site matters.
Coordinate planning applications through the system, advising the project team throughout.
Brief engineering consultants on design requirements, check designs, identify value engineering opportunities, and coordinate external approvals and legal agreements (e.g. S38 and S104 agreements).
Oversee utility provision and management of legal agreements for new utilities and diversion of existing assets.
Manage the preparation of site technical packs and plans.
Coordinate with management companies and managing agents to set accurate budgets for new developments.
Provide technical information to Commercial, Construction, and Sales teams, holding formal handover meetings.
Attend development team meetings until the point of sale.
Work with the Sales department on the site setup and provide full information for property sales.
Manage external adoption consultants to ensure roads, sewers, and public open spaces are adopted, reducing the ongoing liability.
What you’ll need

Engineering experience is essential. It would be helpful if you’ve worked with another housebuilder within the Engineering department.
About the company
This SME family housebuilder has a great reputation within the local area for building quality homes.

The team is relatively small, but the senior personnel have enjoyed decades with the company and the most common reason for leaving the company is retirement.

Without wishing to compete with large PLC housebuilders, the company provides a strong and stable environment, financially sound with no borrowings.

You'll also get a range of other advantages, including a choice of company car or an allowance, private healthcare or medical insurance, and a bonus scheme based on company and individual performance.
