JOB – Gate Automation Engineer
LOCATION – Birmingham (UK-Wide Travel)
TERM – Permanent
SALARY – £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience + Door-to-Door Pay + Overtime + Van + Benefits
My client is a leading provider of gate and barrier automation systems, delivering high-quality solutions across commercial and residential sectors. Due to continued expansion, they are looking for an experienced Gate Automation Engineer to join their team. This is a field-based role covering sites throughout the UK, with regular travel and occasional overnight stays required.
The Gate Automation Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in the installation, servicing, and repair of automated gate and barrier systems
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills (both electrical and mechanical)
Solid understanding of gate safety regulations (e.g. DHF, Gate Safe)
Hands-on experience with motors, actuators, access control systems, and control panels
Professional attitude and strong customer service skills
Able to work independently with excellent time management
Flexible to travel nationwide and stay overnight when needed
Full UK Driving Licence is essential
CSCS, IPAF, DHF or Gate Safe certification is desirable
The Gate Automation Engineer role will involve:
Installation, service, and repair of automated gates, barriers, and access control systems
Fault diagnosis and resolution on customer sites
Compliance with health & safety and relevant industry standards
Maintaining strong relationships with clients through clear communication and professionalism
Accurate completion of service reports and job documentation
Representing the company as a technical expert in the field
