PMLD Teaching Assistant - SEN School - Barrow-in-Furness

Location: Barrow-in-Furness

Full-time: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Start Date: ASAP

Competitive daily rate: £95 - £125 (depending on experience)

Contract: Long-term with the potential to go permanent

Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with a dedicated SEN school in Barrow-in-Furness, currently seeking a compassionate and committed Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a skilled and nurturing team, supporting pupils with complex physical, medical, and learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting students with PMLD on a 1:1 and small group basis
Assisting with personal care, including toileting and feeding
Supporting physiotherapy and sensory programmes under guidance
Using specialist equipment and communication tools (e.g., hoists, PECs, switches)
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and healthcare staff
Promoting a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environmentThe Ideal Candidate Will:

Have experience supporting pupils with PMLD, complex needs, or severe disabilities
Be comfortable providing personal care and physical support
Demonstrate a calm, patient and empathetic approach
Be able to use (or willing to learn) specialist communication methods
Hold a relevant care or education qualification (desirable but not essential)Why Join Tradewind?
