Wolviston Management Services are proud to be supporting our client in the search for a skilled Pillar & Lubrication Technician to join their maintenance team.

Role Overview
 
The Pillar & Lubrication Technician will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective lubrication and maintenance of plant and equipment within the site. The role will ensure that all lubrication systems are properly serviced, monitored, and maintained to maximise asset performance, reduce downtime, and contribute to safe and reliable production.
 
Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned lubrication maintenance on a range of heavy plant and machinery.
Undertake lubrication checks, oil sampling, and condition monitoring.
Diagnose and resolve lubrication-related issues in mechanical systems.
Ensure compliance with site safety policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, lubrication schedules, and oil analysis results.
Support root cause analysis of equipment failures to drive continuous improvement.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to optimise equipment reliability.
Identify opportunities for improvement in lubrication practices and systems.
Ensure correct use and safe storage of lubricants, greases, and associated equipment. Skills & Experience

Time-served mechanical engineering background (apprenticeship or equivalent).
Experience in lubrication systems and maintenance of heavy industrial plant (preferably steelmaking, manufacturing, or process industries).
Strong knowledge of oils, greases, and lubrication practices.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and maintenance manuals.
Experience with predictive maintenance techniques (e.g., oil sampling, vibration monitoring) is desirable.
Excellent awareness of health & safety and environmental standards.
Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
Effective communication and teamwork skills. Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering / Maintenance discipline.
Lubrication-specific training (e.g., ICML Machine Lubrication Technician - desirable but not essential).
Valid safety passport or site safety training (preferred). Working Conditions

Working as part of the maintenance/engineering team.
Shift or days-based working pattern to be confirmed
