Construction Manager – Job Description (ROLES AVAIILABLE IN LONDON AND OXFORD)

As a Construction Manager, you will report directly to the Project Manager and take full site-based responsibility for health, safety, and welfare of all operatives. You will lead the site installation in line with the construction programme, from commencement through to testing, commissioning, and final project completion.

This is a key leadership role where project success relies on your ability to take full ownership and responsibility. You will work closely with the Principal Contractor, clients, the professional team, and other trades to deliver a snag-free, on-time project, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction. All work must align with internal processes and quality assurance standards.

You will oversee all health and safety requirements, ensuring appropriate method statements are in place, toolbox talks are delivered weekly, and site activities follow all safety regulations. Collaborating with the health and safety department, you will maintain records, manage inductions, and uphold the highest safety standards at all times.

The role includes managing both mechanical and electrical works. You will assess man-power needs, monitor labour performance, and coordinate with subcontractors and supervisors to ensure all work is carried out efficiently and in line with the agreed programme. Daily diaries, site progress tracking, and proactive communication are vital.

You must be fully aware of the contract scope, supervise all operatives on site, apply disciplinary procedures when needed, and ensure plant and materials are delivered, stored, and managed effectively. Oversight of free-issue items, red-line drawing markups, and site cleanliness is also required.

You will monitor labour and materials against project budgets, ensure timely ordering, avoid overstocking, and coordinate with commercial teams to manage builderswork and variation requests. Maintaining strict control of site housekeeping will help avoid additional costs from the Principal Contractor.

As projects move into close-out, you’ll manage quality control and ensure installations meet the highest standards. You’ll be responsible for snag-free completion, overseeing commissioning, managing test documentation, and ensuring that all relevant materials and plant are on-site ahead of milestones or handovers. Red-line drawings and final documentation must be accurately maintained throughout.

This role requires a high level of organisation, technical knowledge, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. You will be expected to uphold safety, quality, and performance standards, and promote a multi-disciplinary approach within the team
