Lead Developer – Birmingham, West Midlands
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid) – 1-2 days per week in the office
Salary: £70,000 + benefits
Erin Associates are recruiting for a Birmingham-based software house who are looking for an experienced Lead Developer to take ownership of technical direction, architecture, and development best practices for a small, high-performing engineering team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead by example while remaining close to the code.
The Role
As Lead Developer, you will play a key role in shaping the architecture and delivery of modern, cloud-based applications, while mentoring developers and ensuring high standards across the codebase.
Core Responsibilities

Lead application architecture across Node.js, React, and .NET
Act as the hands-on Technical Lead / Lead Developer within the team
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance to developers
Design and maintain scalable SQL and NoSQL data solutions
Drive performance, scalability, and cost-effective cloud architecture
Produce technical designs, prototypes, and architectural decisions
Maintain clear and concise technical documentation
Collaborate closely with algorithms and data processing teamsEssential Experience

5+ years’ experience in cloud-based full-stack development
2+ years in a Senior Developer or Lead Developer role
Proven experience mentoring and supporting developers
Strong background in enterprise-level cloud architecture
Comfortable working hands-on across the full stackRequired Skills

Strong SQL experience
MongoDB or equivalent NoSQL technologiesCloud & Delivery

Azure (App Services, Azure Batch – production experience)
