Role- Mechanical Design Engineer
Salary- £30,000 - £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Type- Permanent
Location- York

My client works within consumer electronics manufacturing and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Designer, on a permanent basis, in the York area.

Consumer Electronics – Design Engineering – SolidWorks – Jigs & Fixtures – Design for Manufacture – Mechanical Design – Research & Development

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

BSc / BEng qualified in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Design / Product Design Engineering or similar
3 – 6 years’ or more of industry experience working in similar mechanical design engineer role working on design for manufacture
Scientific and Technology space industry knowledge
Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials – injection moulded plastics, metals etc.
Excellent knowledge and proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software ideally
Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Full UK Driving LicenceThe Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

Designing both new products and updating existing products – developing detailed mechanical designs
Designing production jigs & fixtures
Being involved in developing detailed mechanical designs using SolidWorks and the associated documentation
Liaising with colleagues and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered on-time and within budget
Carrying out post-production design changes
Managing a variety of projects
