We are looking for a Metallographic Technologist to join our team at the laboratory based in Wednesbury, Sandwell.

What will I be doing?

In its simplest and most explicit form, industrial safety can be a matter of life or death. As a Metallographic Technologist for Rotech, you will be helping to make a safer place for industry, businesses and for people whenever and wherever. In this role you will be responsible for the timely preparing, testing and reporting of materials, utilising all available equipment and resources, ensuring adherence to our Client and Customer service level agreements at all times.

Some of your responsibilities will include: 

Accurately carry out all sample preparation in line with agreed practices. 

Carry out testing, analysis of test data, and reporting in accordance with the documented business management system. 

Carry out metallography, hardness testing, macro etching, cleanliness verifications, weld assessments, corrosion testing and SEM/EDS analysis, reporting fully on the results and interpretation of test results. 

Carry out failure analysis investigations to determine the mechanism of failure for materials and products.  

Liaise with our customers in respect of contract review and the provision of technical advice within your field of expertise. 

Ensuring customer satisfaction is maintained and consistently focused on, escalating any areas of concern to your line manager. 

Accurately costing jobs for invoicing purposes, monitoring and filing in line with agreed practices. 

What experience do I need?

Our team consists of the best, highly skilled and qualified Technologists and we want our new recruits to have the same attitude, aptitude and appetite for what we do.

Requirements include: 

Ideally educated to degree standard within an appropriate discipline.  

Significant relevant work experience in this area. 

Able to maintain competence of test procedures. 

Good interpersonal skills and communication. both written and verbal. 

Strong focus on Customer Service   

Basic understanding of Cost and Financial Management.
