An established, London-based main contractor with a strong pipeline of industrial and commercial projects is seeking a Design Manager to join their growing team. With an annual turnover in excess of £60m and continued year-on-year growth, this contractor delivers a diverse range of design & build, refurbishment, and new build schemes across the South East.

The Role
The successful candidate will take the lead on a major new build industrial project (circa £20m) located in South West London, working closely with the Project Director and wider delivery team. You’ll be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to delivery, coordinating consultants, subcontractors, and client teams to ensure design intent, buildability, and programme requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the design process across all project stages
Coordinate between internal teams, external consultants, and clients
Ensure design information is delivered to programme and budget
Provide technical input during procurement and construction phases
Support value engineering and ensure compliance with relevant standards
Review drawings, manage design meetings, and maintain documentation
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contracting environment
Strong background in industrial, commercial, or mixed-use projects
Good understanding of design & build processes
Excellent communication and coordination skills
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively
