Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant – SEN & SEMH Settings
Locations: Guildford, Woking, Camberley & Godalming
Full-time | Term-time only

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges? Are you looking to build experience in a specialist education setting before progressing into a career in psychology, education, or therapy?

We are currently recruiting Behaviour Support Assistants to work within a range of specialist schools and alternative provisions across Guildford, Woking, Camberley, and Godalming.

About the Role:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students aged between 2–18 who require additional support to access learning. Many of the young people you’ll work with have a diagnosis such as autism (ASC), ADHD, trauma-related needs or other social, emotional, or mental health barriers to education.

Your role will be vital in helping to create a safe, consistent, and nurturing learning environment. You will:

Provide 1:1 or small group support in class

Use de-escalation and behaviour support strategies

Build trusting relationships with students

Support teachers in delivering tailored learning

Help students develop confidence, independence and self-regulation

What We’re Looking For:

We welcome applications from candidates with:

A background or degree in Psychology, Education, or other related fields

A genuine interest in SEN, SEMH, behaviour support or therapeutic education

Resilience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure

Previous experience in care, support work, youth work, or similar (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
