JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Grounds Maintenance Operative to support the upkeep of the council’s green spaces. Duties will include general gardening and grounds maintenance activities such as:

*

Grass cutting using pedestrian, hand-held and ride-on machinery

*

Strimming, hedge cutting, shrub and border maintenance

*

Edging, weed removal and general street cleansing

*

Litter picking and emptying litter bins when required

You will play an important role in ensuring public areas are kept clean, safe and well-presented.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

We are looking for candidates who are:

*

Able to drive with full UK licence, no more than 6 points and no DR or IN convictions.

*

Physically fit and capable of performing manual outdoor work

*

Reliable, hardworking and keen to develop knowledge within horticulture

*

Able to work independently as well as part of a team

*

Flexible and willing to work across any location within the borough

*

Available to work overtime on an ad-hoc basis when service demands require

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The following experience/qualifications are desirable:

*

NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Horticulture

*

Previous experience within a grounds maintenance or landscaping environment

*

PA1 & PA6 Pesticide Application certificates

*

A full UK driving licence (essential)
