We’re supporting a unique, scientific instruments manufacturer in their search for an experienced Engineering Manager.
As Engineering Manager, you will take responsibility for the delivery of product development, technical support and long-term engineering strategy. You will manage a team of electronic, mechanical and software engineers, scientists, and support staff – ensuring delivery of new product innovation, continuous improvement, and technical leadership across the business.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both project and people management, as well as technical input depending on your background.
Key responsibilities:
Lead and develop the Engineering Department in line with company strategy and values
Manage project delivery, resources, and budgets across R&D and technical functions
Provide hands-on engineering support and guidance within your area of expertise
Oversee product development from concept through to feasibility, prototype and release
Contribute to product strategy, planning, and innovation pipelines
Manage compliance, product improvements, and lifecycle support for legacy products
About you:
Proven track record in engineering or R&D leadership roles, ideally in a small to mid-sized technical business
Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline, with recent hands-on engineering experience
Confident leading multidisciplinary teams and managing technical resources
Strong understanding of product development, project planning and budgeting
Skilled communicator with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style
Knowledge of scientific instrument design, IP, compliance and lifecycle support desirable
