Overview

A Draughtsperson is a dedicated, detail-focused individual with a passion for bringing ideas for exciting engineering systems to life. Renowned for a strong eye for detail and excellent technical drawing skills, they translate the engineering team’s vision into innovative and well-formulated designs. As well as being technically skilled, the Draughtsperson is highly organised and able to meet the demands of each project’s exacting schedule.

Day-to-day responsibilities

*

Use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to create 2D and 3D technical drawings.

*

Calculate dimensions and material requirements.

*

Edit engineering drawings based on recommendations from Engineers.

*

Produce fabrication drawings upon request, to relevant standards and procedures.

*

Support the maintenance of the Product Data Management (PDM) system.

*

Review information for completeness and accuracy.

*

Prepare assembly and detailed drawings based on information and instruction provided, including conceptual layouts and operational storyboarding.

*

Deliver drawings within appropriate timescales and to a high level of quality.

*

Maintain knowledge of company standards and incorporate these into engineering design.

*

Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Person specification

*

Team-focused.

*

Strong maths skills and attention to detail.

*

Draughting experience with suitable qualifications.

*

Effective team player with excellent communication skills, while also able to work on own initiative.

Applicant requirements

*

Proficient in Autodesk Inventor.

*

Minimum of 5 years’ experience required.

*

Experience using the MS Office package.

*

Ability to produce clear and informative production drawings and technical information.

*

Works systematically to ensure completion of tasks to meet deadlines and client expectations.

*

Excellent organisational and planning skills.

*

Ability to effectively prioritise workload.

*

Experience with offshore equipment, particularly offshore wind equipment, is advantageous
