We are looking for a Production Manager to work in a busy manufacturing environment at our Derby site

Working hours: 39 hours, Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 5.00pm, Friday 8.00am to 1.00pm. Flexible

Salary: £55,000, increasing after probation

Purpose of role and key accountabilities:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the function of the role is to lead the production facility at the Gardner Aerospace site in meeting and exceeding its customer requirements on quality, cost and delivery;

Safety:

* Work to and promote company policies, procedures and Health, Safety & Environmental standards including IS(phone number removed) and 18001, in order to promote a strong HS&E culture and provide a healthy and secure working environment for all

* Work in conjunction with the wider site team to reduce the number of accidents, near misses and environmental hazards utilising 6S principles managing HS&E proactively and effectively

* Support legislative site audits and site action plans to drive improved safety standards and continuous improvement performance throughout the business

Quality:

* To develop a culture of continuous improvement in the workplace, ensuring that quality standards and procedures are observed and maintained at all times

* Ensure the business has effective processes and controls in place, in order that the business achieves the highest possible levels of customer satisfaction, including a reduction in PPM, scrap waste and material usage savings

* Generate visual operational metrics which enable quality performance to be effectively communicated and managed on a regular basis

* Ensure effective feedback loops to the shop floor for internal and external quality concerns, the efficient management of issues through SQCDP meetings and the timely resolution of issues through the deployment of robust problem solving methodologies

Cost:

* Ensure that the site achieves agreed financial, operational and commercial objectives via the implementation of continuous improvements in cost reduction activities across the company, to deliver increased profitability and value for money to our customers and stakeholders

* To work within cross-functional teams to support business development, growth and improvement projects as required, and lead the facility in meeting and exceeding customer requirements- 99% OTIF

* Drive improvement in delivery performance through continuous improvement measures, to exceed customer expectations and targets

Delivery:

Extensive knowledge of production processes, preferably within the aerospace or automotive industry

Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and other modern manufacturing methods.

Measurable performance indicators/objectives of role:

* Timely supply of product to our customers

* Quality assured products supplied to customers (Quality Performance)

* SQCDP deployment in line with company standards

* Maintenance of a safe working environment

* Productivity and cost reduction improvements

* Delivery of specific business improvement projects (i.e. set-up reduction, agreed percentage cost reductions)

* Favourable employee relations climate / employee development

* Visual performance measures with demonstrate that targets are met/exceeded

* Achievement of targets in line with business plan

* People measures – manage yearly production team appraisals and report findings to the management team, including demonstrable succession planning and career pathway planning

An annual appraisal will be held to ensure the employee and their Line Manager is happy with their performance, progress and development. Further reviews may also be held to discuss any ongoing training needs of the employee
