Senior Practitioner required to join the Family Safeguarding service
Full-time, permanent position
Office base: Stevenage (covering East Hertfordshire) or Hemel (covering West Hertfordshire)
Case-holding role with hybrid working options
Salary package: £47,754 per annum
- Basic salary: £41,511
- Market enhancement: £6,243 (paid monthly on a pro rata basis)
- Welcome payment: £1,000 (one-off payment upon successful completion of 6-month probation)
About the Role:
Hertfordshire County Council is recruiting experienced Senior Practitioners to join its Family Safeguarding teams across the East and West of the county. This is a vital, high-performing service working directly with families in need of support, delivering effective, relationship-based interventions.
This is a great opportunity to join an Outstanding local authority, where the Family Safeguarding model is nationally recognised and supported by a strong infrastructure of multidisciplinary partners and clinical professionals.
You'll be working in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment with opportunities for development and career progression.
Key Responsibilities:
Holding a complex and varied caseload
Undertaking assessments and carrying out Section 47 investigations
Leading and contributing to strategy meetings, child protection conferences, and planning processes
Developing robust care plans to ensure children are safeguarded and supported
Contributing to service development and mentoring junior team members
What We're Looking For:
At least 2 years post-ASYE experience in a children's safeguarding team
Proven ability to manage risk and deliver high-quality casework
Strong report writing and communication skills
Confident using Mosaic (desirable but not essential)
Able to commute to base office (Stevenage or Hemel) with hybrid working available
To Be Considered:
You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification (Social Work degree / DipSW / CQSW)
Registered with Social Work England
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship
Enhanced DBS required
