An established independent boarding school near Gloucester is seeking a Head of Music to lead its thriving music department from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent position ideal for an experienced and visionary music teacher ready to build on the school's tradition of musical excellence.

The successful candidate will oversee classroom teaching, direct ensembles and choirs, and collaborate across the arts to produce concerts, recitals, and major school productions. The school has a strong choral tradition and supports students through ABRSM and Trinity exams, alongside GCSE and A-Level Music.

Role Highlights:

Lead curriculum delivery across KS3–KS5, including A-Level Music

Direct choirs, orchestras, and chamber ensembles

*

Organise termly concerts, services, and musical events

*

Line-manage visiting instrumental staff and manage department budget

*

Inspire musical involvement across the school community

Candidate Requirements:

Degree in Music; PGCE with QTS

*

Strong leadership skills and ensemble direction experience

*

Piano/organ accompaniment ability desirable

*

Excellent knowledge of music theory, history, and composition techniques
