Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-Time
SEMH Specialist School – January Start
£90–£95 per day

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new role where you can genuinely make a difference every day? We are seeking a dedicated, resilient and compassionate practitioner to join a highly supportive SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) specialist school this January. This is a full-time position, offering a competitive daily rate of £90–£95, with long-term prospects for the right candidate.

About the Role:
You will work closely with teaching staff, therapists and senior leaders to provide personalised support to pupils who may present with behavioural challenges, attachment needs or communication difficulties. Your role will involve:

Offering consistent, calm and proactive support within the classroom and wider school environment.

Building trusting, positive relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

Implementing behaviour regulation strategies and individual learning plans.

Supporting with academic tasks, emotional literacy work and social development activities.

Maintaining detailed records and communicating effectively with the wider team.

Contributing to a supportive, reflective and highly skilled staff culture.

About You:
We are looking for candidates with a strong background in SEMH or similar SEND settings. You should be confident in using de-escalation techniques, trauma-informed approaches and restorative practices. Experience working with children who display challenging behaviour is essential. The ideal candidate will be patient, emotionally resilient and able to stay solution-focused under pressure.

You should also bring:

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.

An ability to work collaboratively and take direction when required.

Excellent communication and observational skills.

A consistent, reliable and professional approach.
