Are you a passionate Maths Teacher with experience supporting students with special educational needs? Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a nurturing, inclusive SEND school in Heywood, Rochdale, to recruit a SEND Maths Teacher for a long-term supply position covering the entire autumn term.
The school supports learners from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4, many of whom have SEN and SEMH needs, and is dedicated to providing a trauma-informed, aspirational learning environment where every student is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including the delivery of GCSE Maths and alternative accredited qualifications. You'll be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, accessible maths lessons that meet the diverse needs of students with a range of learning profiles. The focus will be on practical, applied teaching strategies that make maths meaningful and achievable for all learners, particularly those who face barriers to traditional academic learning.
You will work collaboratively with a skilled team of teaching assistants, SEN professionals, and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure students receive the tailored academic and emotional support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, deliver and assess high-quality maths lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, adapting your approach to meet the needs of students with SEN and SEMH
Prepare students for GCSE Maths and other appropriate Key Stage 4 qualifications, ensuring all content is accessible and inclusive
Use practical, real-life applications of maths to promote understanding and relevance for learners with additional needs
Foster a safe, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation, self-belief, and perseverance
Implement behaviour support strategies such as restorative practices, positive reinforcement, and structured routines
Track student progress closely, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and their families
Work collaboratively with the SENCO, support staff and leadership to ensure an individualised and consistent approach for every learner
Promote both academic achievement and personal development, helping students build confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learningTo be successful in this SEND Maths Teacher role, you will need:
QTS or QTLS status
Recent experience teaching maths to students aged 11-16, particularly those with SEN and/or SEMH
A solid understanding of GCSE maths curriculum and alternative KS4 qualifications
A full CV with a detailed employment and education history, explaining any gaps
Enhanced DBS Disclosure and professional references
