To support our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Finance Manager/Bookkeeper to join our team and oversee our financial operations.
Job Description:
You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s financial records. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data, implementing effective bookkeeping practices, and supporting the overall financial health of the company. This role requires a strong attention to detail, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with precision.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
* Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
* Work alongside an external accountant
* Process and reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial transactions.
* Credit control
* Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic planning.
* Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and tax requirements.
* Prepare and process payroll, including calculating wages, managing deductions, and ensuring timely payment.
* Manage invoicing, collections, and vendor payment processes.
* Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure compliance with reporting standards.
* Provide financial insights and recommendations to management to support decision-making.
* Implement and maintain effective internal controls and accounting procedures.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping experience
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
* Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
* Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with job costing and project accounting.
* Familiarity with construction financial management software mainly Xero.
* Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements.
