Job Title: DT(Design Technology) Technician
Area: Leytonstone, Newham
Start Date: ASAP

Salary: £110-£140 per day
Working Hours: Full time

Brief description:
This role offers the opportunity to support a successful Design & Technology department in a high‑performing and inclusive school environment. You will help maintain workshop spaces, prepare materials and equipment, and ensure safe, high‑quality practical learning in Resistant Materials and wider DT subjects.

About the role:
You will support teachers by preparing resources, maintaining tools and machinery, and promoting safe working practices. The role includes assisting in lessons, organising materials and ensuring all workshop activities meet Health & Safety expectations aligned with BS 4163:2021+A1:2022.

We're looking for a dedicated candidate to:
* Prepare equipment, materials and machinery for DT lessons
* Maintain and organise workshop tools and storage
* Support safe use of saws, lathes, power tools and other machinery
* Uphold safety standards and assist staff and students during practical work
* Contribute to a positive and well‑structured workshop environment

Requirements - The ideal candidate will have:
* At least one accredited Health & Safety certification, such as:
- D&TA Specialist Extension Certificate (e.g. S1HS Wood Sawing, S7HS Wood Turning, S8HS Planer Thicknesser, S9HS Portable Power Tools)
- Registered DT Health & Safety Accreditation (RDTHSC) for Resistant Materials and workshop machinery competence
- City & Guilds Safe Use of Machinery Certificate of Competence for woodworking machinery
* Experience in DT, engineering or workshop environments preferred
* Strong organisational and practical skills
* A safety‑driven, proactive approach
* Good communication and teamwork skills
