Brownlee Cale are recruiting for an experienced and commercially focused Principal Planning Engineer for our client in the civils sector. The successful candidate will be capable of managing individual projects while contributing effectively within a team environment. Prior experience in both pre- and post-contract planning phases is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the Planning team under the direction of the Project Controls Manager.
*
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
*
Develop, maintain, and report on detailed project schedules and associated deliverables.
*
Monitor and manage project risks and changes, ensuring timely and accurate forecasting.
*
Conduct schedule analysis, including scenario planning and variance identification, and communicate findings to the Project Manager.
*
Support recruitment and team development efforts in response to expanding project requirements.
*
Ensure all schedule adjustments are fully understood, documented, and appropriately managed.
Key Skills & Experience:
*
In-depth understanding of the interrelationship between time, cost, and commercial aspects of project delivery.
*
Proven experience across all project lifecycle stages, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
*
Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and maintain planning procedures and reporting mechanisms.
*
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to challenge and influence stakeholders.
*
Proficient in Earned Value Analysis and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desirable:
*
Experience working within highly regulated environments (i.e. Nuclear)
*
Membership of a recognised professional institution (e.g., ACostE, APM).
