About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and adaptable English Supply Teacher to join our vibrant and supportive secondary school community in Birmingham. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and inspiring English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students, maintaining high standards of teaching and learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Key Responsibilities

Teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4 (and possibly KS5, if applicable)

*

Deliver pre-prepared lessons or plan and deliver lessons in line with the national curriculum (depending on the assignment)

*

Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies

*

Assess, monitor, and report on student progress when required

*

Support students in achieving their academic potential

*

Maintain a safe and positive learning environment

Requirements

*

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification

*

Experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3 and KS4)

*

Strong classroom management and communication skills

*

Flexible, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality teaching

*

Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check on the update service, or willingness to obtain one

Desirable

*

Experience with a range of behaviour management strategies

*

Familiarity with the UK secondary curriculum and assessment methods

*

Ability to build rapport with students and staff quickly
