Success Recruit are currently working with a small, busy, and well-established accountancy practice based on the outskirts of Colchester, who are looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper.
The successful Bookkeeper will be expected to:
* Be confident managing multiple client accounts and handling a varied workload in a fast-paced environment
* Possess strong working knowledge of Sage and Microsoft Excel (other accountancy software such as Xero or QuickBooks would be advantageous)
* Demonstrate high attention to detail with excellent time management and organisational skills
* Communicate effectively and work collaboratively as part of a team
* Be proactive and comfortable working both independently and with direct client contact

The successful Bookkeeper will support a busy and dynamic team, ensuring all bookkeeping responsibilities are completed accurately and efficiently. The role will involve managing a portfolio of clients across various industries, ensuring compliance and timely reporting, and helping to maintain the smooth day-to-day financial operations of the practice.
Duties to include, but not limited to:
* Track, monitor, and reconcile payments and invoices across multiple accounts
* Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and staff expenses
* Prepare and submit VAT returns, CIS returns and assist with year-end financial processes
* Support with weekly and monthly payroll processing
* Record and manage accounts payable and receivable
* Input financial data into Sage, including supplier invoices, overheads, nominal, and department coding
* Maintain accurate client records and ledgers, ensuring compliance with HMRC guidelines
* Assist with credit control and cash flow reporting
* Liaise directly with clients and HMRC where necessary
* Provide general administrative support across the finance function as needed

Hours:
Monday – Friday 09.00am – 5.30pm – however flexible start / finish time between 8am – 6pm can be requested and full time or part time hours considered as well.
Salary:
£30k+ dependant on experience ( pro rata if part time )
