Education Keyworker – Portsmouth

Contract: Full time – September 2025 start
Salary: £80 - £100 per day
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support under the guidance of class teachers and the SENCO
Deliver targeted interventions to support academic, emotional, and social development
Plan and evaluate tailored learning aligned with EHCPs and individual targets
Monitor student progress and adapt support based on ongoing assessment
Bring patience, creativity, and humour to each day in an alternative education setting
Build positive, trusting relationships that make students feel safe and supported
Create a welcoming, inclusive learning environment that adapts to individual needs
Promote resilience, confidence, and self-belief in every young person
Use trauma-informed, restorative approaches to support behaviour and wellbeing.
Qualifications & Skills:
An NVQ Level 4 or equivalent with solid literacy and numeracy skills (essential)
Experience working with SEMH needs, exclusions, or other learning barriers
A calm, creative problem-solver with a growth mindset
A collaborative team player who works well with staff, families, and professionals
Someone who leads with connection and builds trust before teaching
Flexible and resilient, able to adapt to the changing needs of each day
Passionate about inclusive education and helping every child succeed
Able to spot and celebrate small wins that mean everything to a child
Full clean driving licence (essential)
