Rapid Growth | New Investment & Automation

We are recruiting on behalf of an ambitious and rapidly expanding metals engineering manufacturer – a specialist in CNC machining, powder coating, cutting, bending and anodising. The business has delivered consistent year-on-year growth, invested significantly in new machinery, automation platforms and facility upgrades, and now enters 2026 on the strongest footing in its history.

In the last two years, we’ve supported this organisation as it scaled, placing several key hires who now form the backbone of a high-performing technical operation. The next strategic hire is a Production Engineering Manager: someone who can elevate capability, drive standardisation, and lead both Production Engineering and Product Quality functions through their next stage of maturity.

Package & Details

* £50,000 base salary

* Bonus Scheme

* Flexible working hours

* Castle Bromwich facility (single base with occasional customer interaction)

* Long-term career development in a business still climbing

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership role with genuine influence.

As Production Engineering Manager, you will:

* Lead a small but highly experienced Production Engineering team (3 Engineers)

* Assume overall responsibility for Quality Assurance & New Product Quality functions (Senior Quality Engineer & Inspector already in post)

* Manage New Product Introduction from prototype through to stable production

* Drive production readiness, manufacturability, process validation and line optimisation

* Embed sound quality control at the point of manufacture – not just in inspection

* Introduce best-practice methods, standard work, process controls and CI

* Own the interface between engineering, quality, production and customers on new programmes

* Champion lean, efficiency and engineering governance in a high-mix environment

This is a fast-moving, sub-contract manufacturing business with a high diversity of customer projects – the role suits someone who thrives on pace, variation, customer demand shifts and live problem-solving.

Who We’re Looking For

A leader who can develop people and systems simultaneously.

* Strong track record in NPI / Production Engineering leadership

* Ability to guide multi-process manufacturing (machining, coatings, forming, finishing)

* Experience shaping both engineering and product quality functions

* Confident communicator, natural relationship-builder, clear decision-maker

* Comfortable in a high-mix, fast-turnaround environment where priorities shift

* Able to turn disparate processes into cohesive, standardised systems

* Not just a manager – someone who can mentor, modernise and motivate

Why This Role Matters

This business isn’t just growing — it’s modernising.

* Brand-new capital equipment & process investments completed in 2024–25

* Facility upgrade programme unlocking new automation and efficiencies

* Ambitious MD and leadership team who invest first, scale second

* Real succession potential as the organisation continues to expand

* Opportunity to write, influence and define the next phase of engineering culture

2026 is lined up to be the most exciting chapter yet — increased volume, new customers, new capabilities, and larger production programmes already confirmed.
