Recruitment Solutions (NW) Limited are proud to represent a long established specialist manufacturer operating across high performance sectors including aerospace, oil & gas and cryogenics. The business designs and produces bespoke products and maintains an extensive range of custom built manufacturing machinery. With a reputation for innovation and technical excellence, the company continues to invest in modernising equipment and improving production capability.

The Role

This is a hands on Electrical Engineer role focused on maintaining, improving, and refurbishing bespoke manufacturing machinery. You’ll work on unique, custom built equipment rather than standard off the shelf systems, so the ability to diagnose, understand, and resolve faults at component level is essential. You will support the ongoing upgrade of legacy machinery, assist in new machine builds or modifications, and play a key role in minimising downtime across the production environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Diagnose electrical faults through machine control panels and PLC interfaces (no parts swapping mentality)

* Carry out repairs, adjustments, and upgrades to bespoke manufacturing machinery

* Refurbish, rewire and modernise older production equipment

* Support mechanical colleagues when required (basic mechanical knowledge useful; electrical expertise is essential)

* Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and keep machinery operating efficiently

* Assist in the build or modification of new bespoke machinery

* Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, improvements and technical findings

Requirements

* Strong electrical engineering background – apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or equivalent preferred

* Confident reading electrical schematics and diagnosing faults at component level

* Experience working on bespoke, custom built, or non standard manufacturing equipment

* Comfortable working with control panels, sensors, drives, relays and general electrical systems

* Ability to think creatively and problem solve rather than simply replace parts

* Good communication skills and able to work independently

* PLC fault-finding experience (desirable)

* Mechanical aptitude or familiarity with mechanical systems

* Experience refurbishing or modernising older/legacy machinery

What’s on Offer

* Supportive engineering environment with excellent long-term career prospects

* Opportunity to work on genuinely unique, bespoke manufacturing machinery

* Stable and established business operating in advanced and emerging sectors

* A varied, technically challenging role with autonomy
