A highly regarded Specialist SEN School in Oldham is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join their expanding team!

This welcoming and well-resourced school primarily supports students with ASC and autism diagnoses, providing a structured and nurturing environment tailored to meet their individual needs.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support students throughout their school day, helping them engage with learning, develop communication skills and build independence. You will work both 1:1 and with small groups, ensuring pupils feel safe, understood and supported.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting students with ASC and autism within the classroom
Assisting with structured and differentiated learning activities
Promoting positive behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation
Implementing sensory strategies and consistent routines
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff
Encouraging independence and social development

The role requires someone who is proactive, patient and confident working independently, while also contributing positively as part of a cohesive staff team.

What We're Looking For

✔ Prior experience within education, specialist schools, residential or care settings
✔ Understanding of ASC and effective support strategies
✔ Strong communication and relationship-building skills
✔ A patient, resilient and proactive attitude
✔ Ability to work independently and collaboratively
✔ Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a psychology-related degree (desirable)
