About the Role:

As a Teacher of English, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and purposeful lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 for the right candidate. You will join a collaborative English department and play a key role in supporting pupils to achieve strong literacy skills and an appreciation of literature.

Key Responsibilities of an English Teacher:

Teach English Language and Literature across KS3, KS4 and KS5
Plan and deliver well-structured, differentiated lessons in line with the national curriculum
Track student progress and provide constructive feedback to support improvement
Foster a classroom environment that encourages a love for reading, writing, and critical thinking
Contribute to the development of English resources and curriculum planning
Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
Participate in departmental and whole-school CPD sessions and meetings
Support students' wider learning experiences through extracurricular activities or enrichment opportunities
Teacher of English Candidate Requirements:

UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
A degree in English, English Literature, or a related subject
Proven experience teaching English in secondary schools
Strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire students of all abilities
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for one
