Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer

My client are a successful engineering firm seeking a Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer to play a key role in delivering safety-critical handling, lifting and movement solutions across high-integrity sectors including nuclear, defence, aerospace, and kinetic architecture.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design, analysis, and delivery of mechanical systems including structural elements, machinery, actuation and drive systems
* Oversee compliance, safety assurance, and engineering governance across the full product lifecycle
* Define, verify and validate engineering requirements across disciplines
* Mentor and develop engineers, fostering technical growth and high-quality project outcomes
* Manage technical risk and ensure alignment with standards, regulations, and internal processes
About You
* Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline
* Chartered Engineer (or demonstrably working toward it)
* Deep expertise in mechanical and structural systems, such as lifting equipment, cranes, bespoke handling systems, or high-integrity moving structures
* Strong background in compliance-led environments and multidisciplinary project delivery
* Proven ability to evaluate complex problems and develop high-quality technical solutions
