Job Title: Caretaker

Start date: Mid‑March

Location: Across 5 schools in the Taunton area

Industry: Trade and Services

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience

Contract: Temporary to Permanent

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to support a group of five schools across the Taunton area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance skills who enjoys a varied role and takes pride in keeping school environments safe, functional, and welcoming. As the Caretaker, you will play a key part in ensuring each Taunton school site is well‑maintained and operating smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine checks to ensure all water systems and electrical facilities are operating safely and effectively.

Report any faults, hazards, or repair needs promptly to the appropriate teams.

Complete basic handyman tasks, such as:

Fixing door handles

Changing light bulbs

Minor repairs and general upkeep

Support the schools with day‑to‑day maintenance needs as required.

Requirements

Full UK driving licence (as the role covers multiple school sites .

Enhanced DBS check with Children's Barred List (or willingness to obtain one).

Practical, hands‑on approach with confidence in basic maintenance tasks.

Ability to work independently across several locations.

Good communication skills and a strong sense of responsibility.

Previous caretaking or facilities experience is beneficial but not essential
