Payroll & Bookkeeping Professional

Permanent Role: Flexible – Part-time, two days (16 hours) per week minimum.
Location: Cheltenham (hybrid – office and home working). Applicants must be able to work from Cheltenham for training, and when required by the business.

Our client is a growing accountancy practice based in Cheltenham. They pride themselves on delivering professional, accurate, and friendly services to a wide range of clients.
They are looking for a motivated Payroll & Bookkeeping Professional to join their small team and help them continue to deliver excellent service.

The Role

You will be responsible for running client payrolls and assisting with related bookkeeping tasks.
This is a varied role in which you’ll have direct client contact and the opportunity to broaden your skills within an accountancy practice environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Processing weekly and monthly payrolls for a variety of clients.

* Ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements and pension auto-enrolment.

* Assisting with bookkeeping tasks, including bank reconciliations, data entry, and VAT returns.

* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records.

* Liaising with clients to resolve queries in a timely and professional manner.

* Supporting the wider team with ad-hoc accounting duties when required.

Skills & Experience

* Previous experience within accounts is essential, and payroll experience is preferred

(Full training in payroll can be provided if the successful applicant meets all the other criteria)

* Familiarity with Sage Payroll would be an advantage.

* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

* Good organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

* Proficient IT skills, including MS Office (particularly Excel).

* Bookkeeping knowledge or experience desirable.

* Excellent communication and client service skills.

* Competitive salary circa £30,000 (£28,000 - £33,000 per annum, dependent on experience) Paid pro rata based on working days.
