Contract Options is currently recruiting for a reliable and experienced Weekend Chef to work in a probation centre based in Portsmouth. This is a temporary-to-permanent position, ideal for someone who is confident working independently in a secure residential environment.

Key Details:

* Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays only, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM

* Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent (following an 8–12 week probation period)

* Pay Rate: £14.50 per hour (flat rate, no enhancements)

* Pay Frequency: Weekly while employed by Contract Options; monthly once permanent with the client

* Start Date: Immediate start available for the right candidate

Work Environment:

This role is based in a probation centre with approximately 10–15 residents, all of whom are ex-offenders. The role requires someone who is:

* Confident and professional in a secure environment

* Comfortable working independently as the only chef on site

* Able to prepare, cook, and serve meals for all residents without support

Candidate Requirements:

* Previous experience as a chef or cook is essential – this is a solo role, not suitable for trainees

* Must be confident and capable of managing the kitchen alone

* Must live locally to Portsmouth – having a car or driving license is preferred but not essential

* Must have a Basic DBS certificate (dated within the last 12 months)

* If you don’t have one, Contract Options can assist in applying for a DBS

* Must be reliable, punctual, and respectful of the nature of the environment
