Operations Manager

We’re supporting a growing SME distribution centre in their search for an experienced Operations Manager to take full ownership of day-to-day operations across warehouse, fulfilment, logistics and last-mile distribution.

This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a team of 20–30, including pick/pack operatives, warehouse staff, and van drivers, ensuring the seamless movement of goods from goods-in to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Take full ownership of site operations across warehousing, fulfilment, logistics, and distribution

*

Lead and manage the performance and development of all operational teams (warehouse, logistics, and drivers)

*

Oversee accurate and timely receipt, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of goods

*

Drive improvements in stock control, WMS utilisation, and delivery efficiency

*

Ensure full compliance with H&S, transport regulations, and operational standards

*

Collaborate with third-party logistics providers, internal teams, and external partners

*

Optimise staffing levels, shift planning, and operational workflows to meet demand

*

Track KPIs, manage budgets, and implement continuous improvement initiatives

About You:

Proven background in operations management across warehouse, fulfilment, or distribution environments

*

Experienced people leader with strong communication and coaching skills

*

Confident with stock systems (WMS), logistics planning, and last-mile delivery processes

*

Calm, structured, and effective under pressure in fast-moving environments

*

Strong commercial awareness and an eye for process improvement and efficiency gains
