Literacy Intervention Tutor - SEMH | Alternative Provision | North Manchester - Step Teachers

Hours: Full-time, Mon-Fri, 8:30am-3:30pm
Contract: Temp-to-Perm opportunity
Step Teachers are working with a small secondary alternative provision in North Manchester supporting around 25 pupils aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The setting provides a nurturing, structured environment where pupils receive personalised academic and emotional support to help them re-engage with learning and build confidence.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in literacy support or tutoring who enjoys working closely with young people. You'll help pupils improve their reading, writing, and communication skills while supporting their emotional development and engagement.
Key responsibilities:
* Deliver targeted literacy interventions to small groups and individual pupils
* Support students with SEMH needs to develop confidence and motivation in learning
* Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to track progress and encourage positive behaviour
* Adapt activities to meet a range of learning and emotional needs
What you'll need:
* Experience supporting or tutoring young people (ideally within SEMH or SEND settings)
* Knowledge of literacy intervention strategies or a strong English/language background
* A patient, creative and resilient approach
