Workshop Controller – Plant Hire Industry

£32,000 – £36,000 per annum (DOE)

NEOS Engineering are partnered with a well-established national plant hire business, known for supplying equipment into construction, rail, energy, and major infrastructure sectors. Off the back of significant growth, they’re on the lookout for an experienced Workshop Controller to take the reins on all things service coordination and plant maintenance site.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a busy workshop environment, is a whiz at juggling priorities, and has a solid understanding of plant machinery and mechanical repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the go-to person for all things workshop service – you'll be the first to pick up on breakdowns and quickly line up the right support to sort it.
Allocate repairs to fitters, ensuring they’ve got everything they need to get the job done right first time.
Manage third-party contractors when required, raising POs and sorting invoicing.
Book in plant servicing and inspections, making sure downtime is kept to a minimum.
Work closely with the hire desk to keep plant moving and arrange replacements where needed.
Identify and charge out for damage repairs, ordering parts and issuing invoices.
Keep service schedules, stock, and repair records bang up to date and accurate.
Requirements:

Solid background in service/workshop coordination – ideally in plant hire, construction machinery or a similar fast-paced environment.
Sound mechanical repair knowledge – you don’t need to be on the tools, but you need to talk the talk.
Organised, proactive, and confident with prioritising under pressure.
Comfortable communicating over the phone and via email – clear, calm and efficient.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and service tracking systems.
