Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Non-Verbal Pupil
Location: Brighton
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)

Are you a calm, caring, and resilient individual looking to make a meaningful difference in a young learner’s life? GSL Education are currently in search of a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal pupil in a welcoming school located in Brighton.
As a 1:1 SEN TA, you will work closely with a non-verbal pupil, providing dedicated support throughout the school day. Your role will focus on helping the pupil access learning, develop communication skills, and build trust and confidence.
Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support to a non-verbal pupil, adapting communication strategies to suit their needs.
Implement and support personalised learning plans in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO.
Use tools such as PECS, Makaton, visual timetables, or communication aids (training can be provided).
Create a calm, nurturing environment to support emotional regulation and learning.
Record observations and feedback to track the pupil’s development.
Requirements:
Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), ideally non-verbal.
Strong communication skills, patience, and a positive, adaptable attitude.
Understanding of alternative communication methods is highly desirable.
A genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs.
Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
