Fire Door Carpenter
Location: West Midlands (Ideally)
Salary: £30,000 – £38,000 DOE
Hours: Full-Time | 40 Hours Per Week + Overtime Available
Requirements: Full UK Driving Licence
I’m recruiting for an experienced Fire Door Carpenter to join one of my clients, a rapidly growing building compliance and fire safety specialist. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in fire door installation and maintenance, who takes real pride in their workmanship and is looking to progress with a reputable business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out fire door installation and maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications and BM Trada approved techniques
* Produce accurate work records via One Trace or JobWatch (or similar system)
* Work independently or as part of a wider compliance team
* Install and maintain timber, steel and composite fire doors
* Install timber frames for fire curtains/fire batt walls (e.g. Firefly systems)
* Undertake dry lining and passive fire protection carpentry work
* Attend client site progress meetings when required
* Ensure all work meets Building Safety Act requirements and passive fire safety standards
* Maintain exceptional standards of quality, safety, and customer service
* Identify and report any non-compliance or safety risks on site
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry
* Minimum 2 years’ fire door installation or maintenance experience
* Blue CSCS Card
* Full UK driving licence
* Strong understanding of fire door manufacturers’ installation standards
* Experience working in social housing or educational environments (DBS cleared or willing to obtain)
Desirable:
* Fire door qualifications (FIRAS, BM Trada or similar)
* SSSTS certification
* Knowledge of Firefly / British Gypsum or similar passive fire systems
