Job Title: Payroll Supervisor
Location: Harrogate
Salary: £35,000 
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Office-based (flexibility for reduced or condensed hours considered)

We are seeking a knowledgeable and hands-on Payroll Supervisor to join a close-knit, friendly team in Harrogate. In this role, you will collaborate with a Payroll Assistant and take responsibility for leading the payroll processing and oversight for a diverse range of clients.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a bureau or client-facing payroll setting.

Key Responsibilities
Manage weekly and monthly payroll processing for around 52 clients, with employee counts ranging from 1 to 85
Ensure timely and accurate submissions for PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other statutory requirements
Use payroll software (BrightPay) and accounting systems (QuickBooks) for data entry, reporting, and regulatory compliance
Deliver excellent client service through precise payroll processing and clear communication
Collaborate with directors and internal teams such as accounting, audit, and tax, while occasionally providing administrative support
Stay current with payroll legislation and industry best practices to ensure compliance What We’re Looking For
Extensive practical experience managing end-to-end payroll processing
Previous experience in a client-facing or bureau payroll environment is preferred
Proficient with computer systems and payroll software, with BrightPay experience considered an advantage
Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and professionalism in high-pressure situations Team Structure
You’ll report directly to the firm’s four directors.
You’ll work closely with a Payroll Assistant who has three years of experience in the role. Start Date: Ideally before or by 11th July, to allow for a smooth handover.
