GSL Education are recruiting a Design Technology Teacher to work within a Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire from September 2024. This is a great opportunity for a Qualified Teacher seeking a change in pace or simply after a new challenge.

Design Technology Teacher responsibilities will include:

Primary duties include teaching Design and Technology to KS4 or KS5, but the ability to teach other specialisms across the department up to GCSE level would be an advantage.
Evaluating the ability of individual students, putting together BTEC materials for exams, and helping students with special needs.
Use all available resources to engage young people.
Contribute and engage in extra-curricular Design and Technology activities.

Take part in staff training days, staff meetings and parent’s evenings.
Successful candidate will also be required to teach some other subjects that they are passionate about which will be discussed in interview.
Minimum candidate requirements:

A UK teaching qualification namely e.g. PGCE in Design and Technology or B.Ed with QTS.
Experience teaching BTEC Design Technology and supporting young people with SEMH.
Up to date in their field of expertise with the capability of fostering curiosity and interest for the subject.
Able to teach across the age and ability range at age 11-16.
Willing to become an encouraging Form Tutor.
Strong command of the curriculum and good behaviour management skills; able to meet deadlines.
Be effective at behaviour management linked to complex social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for a new one.
