Mechanical Fitter – HGV’s
Salary - £45,000 - £50,000 per annum (negotiable for right experience)
Location – Nr. Harleston, Suffolk, willingness to travel to different sites on occasion
Hales Group are happy to be recruiting on behalf of their client, for a Mobile Mechanical Fitter to join their fun and friendly team. They are looking for someone with a proactive nature, happy to travel to their other sites on rare occasions and happy to be on-call.
Duties include but may not be limited to:
Willingness to travel - Demonstrates flexibility and readiness to travel to various locations to provide on-site mechanical support. This includes responding to service calls, performing scheduled maintenance, and addressing urgent repairs at client sites or roadside locations.
Assisting in the maintenance, servicing and inspections of the vehicles in our fleet. Manging the upkeep of a diverse fleet by conducting routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake inspections, fluid checks, and filter replacements. Diagnosing mechanical issues and ensuring all vehicles meet safety and operational standards.
Perform calibration and testing of tachograph systems to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards. This includes both digital and analogue tachographs, requiring attention to detail and a solid understanding of vehicle data recording systems. Accurate calibration is critical for monitoring driver hours and maintaining road safety.
Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out necessary repairs either on-site or in the workshop. This includes mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. The role demands quick thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure to restore vehicle functionality efficiently.
Assist in the assembly and setup of new vehicles including fitting components, wiring systems, and ensuring all parts are installed to specification. This may involve interpreting technical drawings and collaborating with other teams to ensure quality and performance standards are met from the outset.
Person Specification:
Experience with HGV, flat beds, trailers and other large transport onsite and roadside.
Full UK HGV Driver’s License.
Level 3 HGV Maintenance Degree.
Training on the job experience.
Flexibility to ensure emergency situations are dealt with last minute.
