Project Manager

Overview
Unify HQ are recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing construction and retrofit contractor delivering projects across social housing, local authority frameworks and private-sector schemes.
They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of construction projects from mobilisation through to handover. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, can manage multiple workstreams, and is confident leading subcontractors, internal teams and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Delivery
Plan, schedule and manage construction projects from start to completion.
Develop project programmes, scopes of work and delivery plans.
Monitor progress against programme, cost and quality targets.
Identify risks, delays or issues and implement mitigation actions.
Budget & Cost Control
Manage project budgets and cost forecasts.
Approve variations, track spend and control costs.
Ensure works are delivered within agreed financial parameters.
Site & Contractor Management
Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and internal installation teams.
Ensure site readiness prior to works commencing.
Monitor site performance, workmanship and productivity.
Resolve site‑based issues and disputes efficiently.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, CDM Regulations and company policies.
Ensure RAMS, permits and site documentation are in place and followed.
Conduct or support site inspections and audits.
Stop works immediately if unsafe practices are identified.
Quality Assurance
Ensure works meet drawings, specifications and relevant standards.
Manage snagging, defects and remedial works.
Ensure quality checks and sign‑offs are completed.
Stakeholder & Client Communication
Act as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
Provide regular progress updates and reports.
Manage expectations and handle issues professionally.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate project records including programmes, variations and site reports.
Ensure handover documentation is complete (O&M manuals, certificates).
Support compliance and post‑completion processes.
Skills & Competencies
Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Confident decision‑making and problem‑solving under pressure.
Commercial awareness and cost‑control experience.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience as a Project Manager within construction or retrofit.
Knowledge of UK building regulations and CDM.
SMSTS or SSSTS (essential)
CSCS card
Experience managing subcontractors and live construction sites.
Measures of Success
Projects delivered on time and within budget.
Zero serious H&S incidents.
High quality and low defect rates.
Positive client feedback.
Accurate and complete project documentation.
