A fantastic opportunity has become available for a dedicated Food Technology ECT to join a forward-thinking and student-focused school in Taunton. This full-time, permanent position begins in September 2025 and provides the perfect start for an early career teacher who is passionate about practical learning, nutrition, and healthy living.

The school boasts excellent DT facilities and a growing interest in vocational and creative education. As a Food Technology ECT, you will have the chance to develop your teaching practice with strong departmental support and structured mentoring throughout your ECT years.

Your role as a Food Technology ECT will involve:

Teaching Food Technology across KS3 and KS4, including preparing students for GCSE assessment

*

Planning practical, safe, and engaging cooking lessons

*

Supporting students in developing life skills, nutritional awareness, and food hygiene

*

Creating a safe and well-managed food preparation environment

*

Engaging in CPD sessions and personalised professional development

*

Working alongside experienced colleagues to plan and adapt schemes of work

*

Contributing to enrichment activities such as healthy eating campaigns or cooking clubs

*

Being part of a supportive, progressive DT department with strong links to PSHE and science

What we’re looking for in a Food Technology ECT:

A degree in Food, Nutrition, Hospitality or related subject and QTS pending for summer 2025

*

Strong practical cooking and organisational skills

*

An understanding of how to make food education inclusive and meaningful

*

A creative and confident teaching style, ready to adapt and grow
