Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Fire Risk Surveyor to lead and manage the delivery of a comprehensive fire safety programme across the housing portfolio. This role is central to ensuring the safety of residents and maintaining compliance with fire safety legislation. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality fire safety outcomes, build strong relationships with residents and stakeholders, and contribute to a positive fire safety culture across the organisation. The role requires a proactive approach to project delivery, contractor management, and continuous improvement.

Responsibility

Conduct and manage fire risk assessments and ensure the timely completion of remedial actions.

Lead fire safety projects from inception to completion.

Undertake post-incident investigations in collaboration with the London Fire Brigade.

Provide technical guidance and support across the organisation.

Attend resident meetings and represent the organisation on matters related to fire safety.

Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

Support procurement processes and maintain robust quality assurance procedures.

Qualification – Essential

GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.

NEBOSH Fire Safety Management Certificate or equivalent Level 3 qualification

Degree in Building Surveying, Fire Engineering, or a related field.

Membership with IFSM or IFE.

Advanced – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), social media.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements - Criteria to be Evaluated at the Shortlisting Stage. 

Successful candidates will have:

Specialist training in fire doors and fire stopping systems.

Demonstrated competency in reviewing risk assessments through a recognised third-party scheme.

Strong knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Experience managing fire-related projects in the housing sector.

Familiarity with compliance software and the Landlord and Tenant Act.

Experience working with external stakeholders, including the Fire Services.

Strong technical knowledge of fire safety legislation and risk assessment processes.

Proven project management skills with the ability to deliver complex schemes.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Analytical thinking with the ability to challenge proposals and ensure value for money.

Confidence in providing authoritative technical guidance and managing competing priorities.

Political awareness and the ability to work effectively with senior managers in a local government setting.
