Working Hours: Rotating weekly shifts (06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join a long-established and highly respected UK manufacturer in the corrugated packaging industry. This role is essential to maintaining and improving the efficiency of our corrugated board production lines, ensuring minimal downtime and consistently high-quality output.
Working as part of a close-knit engineering team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day mechanical upkeep and enhancement of our machinery and systems used in the production of sustainable corrugated board, sheet, and rolls.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the maintenance and smooth running of corrugated board manufacturing equipment
* Perform preventative and emergency maintenance to minimise downtime
* Diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
* Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities
* Liaise with internal teams to ensure consistent production flow
* Conduct safety checks and ensure all work is compliant with health and safety regulations
* Carry out calibration of system components and machine diagnostics
* Refurbish and service aging machinery to extend operational lifespan
* Conduct mechanical and electrical assembly as required
* Inspect machine parts and components for wear and damage
* Order spare parts and liaise with suppliers for timely deliveries
* Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics
Required Experience & Qualifications
* Proven experience in a mechanical engineering role within a production environment
* Experience with conveyor belt systems is desirable
* Welding and fabrication experience is desirable
* Time-served engineering background, ideally with hands-on workshop skills including lathe operation
* Familiarity with high-output, fast-paced manufacturing environments
* Understanding of safe working practices in engineering settings
