Maternity Cover - Year 1/2 Class Teacher

Location: Mainstream Primary School, Gosport

Start Date: February 2026

Contract Length: 1 Year (Fixed-Term)

Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Gosport to recruit a committed and enthusiastic teacher for a maternity cover position in a mixed Year 1/2 class. This full-time role begins in February and will run for one year.

The school offers a supportive environment, strong leadership, and a collaborative staff team. They are seeking someone who can bring warmth, creativity, and consistency to the classroom, with a passion for delivering engaging learning experiences across Key Stage 1.

This role is well-suited to a third-year Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to build on their experience in a nurturing and well-resourced setting or an experienced educator.

Role Details

Position: Year 1/2 Class Teacher (Maternity Cover)

Location: Gosport

Start Date: February 2026

Contract Type: Full-time, fixed-term (1 year)

Hours: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Pay: In line with the teacher payscale, dependent on experience

Requirements

QTS or equivalent teaching qualification

Experience teaching within KS1 (Year 1/2 preferred)

Up-to-date Safeguarding training (can be provided)

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

Referencing to cover the past 24 months
